A while back I chatted about the genius of Gocco and promised to share our first project: our save-the-dates. I apologize in advance for the poor quality photos. I always forget to take some with my “good cameras” and instead rush to take photos with my iphone right before dropping them in the mailbox. Oh, the irony…
Not sure if I mentioned this when I posted the bridesmaid invites but I AM NOT A DESIGNER, so I’m brimming with pride over every little design project that I successfully complete. And by “successfully” I mean, designing something that actually gets printed and doesn’t require me to completely pull my hair out while playing with Illustrator.
Overall, we are thrilled with how they turned out. I can’t believe how incredibly easy it was to make 65 prints…it seriously took less than 45 minutes to burn the screen and print everything. I wish I’d had time to line the envelopes or at least print something fun on them…but my boo keeps reminding me that simplicity is a good thing
So, a little rundown of what it took to make these little babies:
- Gocco machine
- 1/4 of gocco paper ink
- kraft/chipboard cut to A2 size
- envelopes from paper source
- 8.5×11 text paper (for the mailing labels)
- guillotine trimmer
- xyron machine
What We Did
- designed invites in Illustrator
- printed invites on chipboard using the Gocco
- borrowed a template from Martha Stewart for the mailing labels, completed with Acrobat, printed on 8.5×11 text paper
- ran the labels through the xyron machine, which applied an adhesive back (love that freakin’ thing)
- stuffed envelopes and applied labels
yaya, the first major wedding project is complete!!! thanks to the awesome wedding blog world for all the inspiration and resources!
