Crazy for Gocco

Many crafty brides before me have raved about their Gocco…now it’s my turn. I’m not going to get into all the crazy details just yet, but I’ve gone mad for my Gocco and now I’m gocco-ing everything in site. There are not enough surfaces in the world to support my addiction…we’ll see if I’m still singin this tune come January when I’ve gocco’ed a bagillion invites, favors, etc.

My boo is getting his Gocco on :)

Since our save-the-dates have yet to go out (yes, they’re already super late) I won’t be showing our latest project today but I promise to give a full rundown in a couple of weeks. Really, they aren’t all that special just an example of what me and the man can accomplish in 2 hours while eating spaghetti (weird, who crafts while eating pasta???). But I do think this a perfect opportunity to introduce those who are unfamiliar to the genius that is Gocco. Let’s get started!

History

Print Gocco is a self-contained printer that was first launched in Japan in 1977. Compact, portable and with relatively no mess, this printer provides endless possibilities for paper printing. After burning your first screen, it’s wham-bam-thank you mam forever. Quick, easy and ADDICTIVE! Unfortunately, like most of my great addictions (polaroid), Gocco was discontinued between 2005 – 2008. So, yes Gocco is intended to be extremely affordable (and it is in comparison to letterpress and thermography) but supplies can hike the cost up a bit. Though you often have to import supplies from Japan (it’s cheaper than you think), they are still attainable and I’ve listed some resources at the end of this article.

Check out this video from etsy…after viewing a few tutorials, I think this one explains the process best.

Check out more tutorials here, here or one of my favorites.
